Gothic Emo?

Is there a difference between a goth and an emo?

Goth, someone who dresses all black.
Emo, someone who dresses all black... and sometimes, looks VERY gay.

emos cut themselves..

Not all emos are slashers...... are they? o-o;;

the ones that arent im pretty sure are considered goths..

I thought emo was someone who's utterly depressed!

Well theres goth, emo, and the people who act emo but don't dress like it or cut themselves, I forgot the name for it though.

And from my knowledge "emo" was started from some singer who had incredibly tight pants.... but yeah, emos are generally really depressed and hate life.

I pretty much fall under the category of "act emo but don't dress or cut themselves." I can't stand their clothes... I need room for my gems.

I don't know why they're called that, but they are. I used to be considered that back in Middle School.

... why the hell, okay, I seriously don't see the connection between the word "scene" and their description. Can someone connect the dots for me, or is there none and I'm just trying too hard? =/

A scene kid is someone is not technically considered emo, because they just don't fit as that description, but dress in a reasonably fashionable way to be noticed. They just want attention... Without the dramatics of cutting themselves and stuff of that nature! Thinking there better than everyone else and hating the world too, again without all the dramatics of a real emo........

Actually thats emo.... you just left out the cutting part.

But yeah, "scene" is probably where I would fall in. I'm depressed alot, anti-social, prefer to be alone, etc. I can't stand the clothing the "emos" wear though.... They aren't attention whores >_> I prefer to divert attention from myself infact.

In simple, scene isn't as extreme as emo. No cutting and its very likely they won't wear the clothes that "emos" do.





As for goth, and as defined by an Urban Dictionary definiton which seems to sum it up:

"A close-knit artistic social group that desires darker and more ethereal emotions to be invoked. these emotions; morose, necromanticism, apocalyptic, sex, death, love, blood, lust, etc. help form the base from which this often misunderstood sub-culture operates from."

Scene is the emo without the emo qualities, The scene kids Blaze is talking about are Wannabes. Scene is the Kid that may wear the clothes, but can be any sort of personality. I dressed in 'all black' and wore tight shirt (Couldn't wear the pants....) yet I was very outgoing and loud. Everybody loved me and while I WAS an attention Whore, I didn't openly hate life to get my attention.

So scene does not relate to emo?? =/

They look the part but don't act it.

Well, an emo person is usually someone who has an average life and are somewhat well off, but they go and search for things around them that make their life seem unbearable. They end up having difficulty in social setting being quite a bit self centered and finding some way to make everything seem like some problem of theirs.

I doubt that this is completely intentional behavior habits though, being something more like they ended up getting upset in an early period of their life and noticed how people close to them would take notice and try to comfort them. At that point, they found they liked this attention they were getting and attempted more scenarios to get this feeling of being noticed more than usual. They begin wearing dark and gloomy looks in hopes that people will notice them more and see that they have a "problem" that needs someone's attention. Over time they slowly get this wired into their brain and it began affecting them negatively to the point where they truly think there is something legitimately wrong with their lives and thi becomes a habit. After a while they begin finding methods to draw their attention away from the hell they put their own mind into, such as slashing.



I'm not too sure about goths though. Best I got is the short summary a friend of mine gave during a similar discussion of this nature during lunch that I happened to catch at the end.
"Emos would probably be killing themselves. I goth would rather kill you."

XDD Lmao... a goth would, rather, kill you............ (not correcting you, it's hard to do tones through the internet, but I'm agreeing with you. It's just, hard to express that >.<)

Wow, is it just me or is Xovchu getting more and more beefy in his posts...... -likes it- Thank you for this wonderful post, by the way. I guess this is another reason why there are so many people who go, "Fine, just go and kill yourself then" and get looked down upon because they aren't helping. Yet, the ones not truly helping are the ones trying to help. Waaaah, what is with all these sudden loop-cycle?!! DD; Stupid manga.
