Good for Assassins Creed Fans!Back of the book summary:'For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art--and he is
the city's most accomplished artist.
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you
never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown
up in the slums and learned to judge people
quickly--and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing
himself to Durzo Blint.
But to be accepted, Azoth must turn back on his
old life and embrace a new destiny and name. As
Kylar Stern, he must learn to navagate the assassins'
world of dangerous politics and strange magics--and
cultivate a flair of death.
"I was mesmerized from start to finish. Unforgettable
characters, a plot that kept me guessing, nonstop
action, and the kind of in-depth storytelling that
makes me admire a writer's work."
-Terry Brooks, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author----------------------------
This is the first in a triple series, with the other booked titled: Shadow's Edge and Beyond the Shadow. I can't reveal much since I'm only 167 pages in but...
Azoth, the main character and 11 yrs old, a simple guild rat who really needs a better life than his current trashed one. He hangs out with his friends "Jarl" and "Doll Girl" (many odd names in this book). His leader is a guy named "Rat" , a 16 yr old jerk. Eventually Azoth stumbles upon Durzo and wishes to be an apprentice. After being bugged enough, Durzo gives him one condition...
- Spoiler:
Kill his leader Rat. (The story hasn't said how he did yet..). After Rat's death Azoth trains and practices under Durzo. A mistake could cause death. Later on Azoth disobays Durzo and sneaks out. Only to return with a sword almost through him. The sword began glowing when it touched Azoth and Durzo freaked out... Later on after Azoth has taken up his new name him and Durzo go on a small "mission" together only to end with Durzo peirceing Azoth/Kylar straight through... IT ONLY GETS BETTER!
I would seriously reccomend this book. I hate reading but I love this. My only complaint his how some characters are introduced way to fast. You'll be reading and say something like "Who the ---- is that?"
