| I'm thinking of the differences between these two weapons: A wooden wakazashi and a baseball bat.
The weapons are both about the same length, made of wood, and are bludgeons. Here's where my thoughts come in.
The wakazashi (http://www.oriental-weaponry.co.uk/acatalog/BS68-08-01Close-wooden-shoto.jpg)is light, has good swing speed, and can be used with one hand.
The baseball bat (http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/4600450/82972-main_Full.jpg)is a bit heavier, hits harder, and probably has to be used with both hands for better hits.
I'm thinking which one would be a bit more effective. The wakazashi's speed and one handedness, or the baseball bat's strength and heft. I can swing a baseball bat quite well, making a sort of fighting style for it, so they seem kind of equal in a sense. Now I would like to know what you guys think about each one.
Note: I didn't put this in Debate because it isn't an argument, it's me wanting to know what you guys think.

| It doesn't go in debate, it goes in Other...
But for your question. It depends on the users style and goal. If they are a brute or just wanting to knock someone unconscious (sometimes beat the target to death, either way there will be no "style"), a baseball bat suits them. If they are quick, nimble, or weaker than a brute, and aim for a quick kill. A Wakizashi (you spelled it wrong) will suit them well.

| Ooooh. It goes in Other. Got it.
I really am not sure which one I should take. Sure style and speed are something important that the wakizashi (I spelled every one of the spellings for that word wrong in my last post?!?! I spelled it right everywhere else! DRAT!) has, but if I need to quickly disable an enemy with as few blows as possible, I think a baseball bat might prove to be a bit more efficient. Maybe I'll experiment with both of them and come back with some results. Thanks for the feedback, Azure.

| You mentioned as few blows as possible. Thats where a Wakizashi come in handy. In historic times it was used to cut off the head of a defeated enemy. It can cut through limbs and cause serious injury in the right hands. The job will be done quick and efficiently. With the Bat, due to weight, length, and no sharpness, it can be easily predicted. Unless you nail someone square on the head it can be a lasting fight. If your using a wood bat, you can move faster but weaker and it has a good chance of breaking. With a metal bat, you'll be much stronger, but far slower. | |

| They've actually cut people's heads off with a wooden wakizashi? Owie.
Hm...I think I may take that. Baseball bat isn't too heavy to me, but I think I'll test out the wakizashi. I still might get a baseball bat though. The debate for metal vs wood is that the aluminum may bend, but then the wood may break. Hm...

| OH, a WOOD Wakizashi? I thought you meant a metal wakizashi. Thats the first thing that came up when I googled it. | |

| Yeah, wood. I needed a blunt melee weapon since I already have my bowie and butterfly knives. I was also considering a machete. Now that you know we're comparing wooden weapons, what do you think? | |

| ...That's not what I meant. I have a wooden machete, but I was talking about my blades, not wooden bludgeons.
Let's straighten this out. I have these blades: A butterfly knife, a bowie knife, and a machete. I'm using butterfly knife and bowie knife, and I said I may consider a machete.
First though, I need a BLUNT melee weapon. So far I'm tied between a wooden wakizashi and a wooden baseball bat.
Now then, I think both are pretty balanced with a few different points. What do you think?

| Wakizashi After what Azure said it sounds better...that and one handed, with better speed is better if they deal the same damage. | |

| You read the part where they're both wood, right?
I think the baseball bat may hit harder while the wakizashi is faster. The baseball bat isn't that heavy to me, so it's a matter of style used for the weapon. I'm slightly leaning towards baseball bat, but since I need to buy one first, I'll use my wakizashi.
